Because
of the lack of Large Woody Material, the Youngs Bay has built
several wood cribs and installed then in the tidal area of
the watershed. The cribs are anchored to existing pilings
and stuffed with woody material to provided hiding areas for
juvenile salmon. Currently Astoria High School Students are
monitoring fish use in the area.
Material
for the cribs were donated from Weyerhaeuser Company and Pacific
Power.
Thanks
to members of the Rainland Flycasters for helping us build
the cribs.
